IPR recently provided a pump dewatering solution to a repeat customer, and then undertook the complete rebuild of a damaged pump set. In any working environment, the risk of water contamination demands immediate attention. So when a customer called dewatering and dredging specialist IPR for help, it took just 24 hours before pumps were running on site. IPR rental development manager Andre Strydom says this was all the time they needed to quote, deliver and commission their Sykes dewatering pumps.
Established just seven years ago, IPR is growing rapidly with a rental fleet that has tripled its rental fleet since 2021, and will use Electra Mining Africa 2022 to showcase its pump dewatering and dredging market offering. The company is the sole agent in southern Africa for the globally recognised Sykes range of diesel-driven pump sets and is also able to supply other brands such as Grindex, Godwin and Atlas Copco.
Every dewatering project is different, but most do require the using of accessories such as hosing and flotation systems. IPR carries a comprehensive range of Pump Flotation Devices (PFD) and Hose Flotation Devices (HFD) which are available for either purchase or hire.
Having earned its reputation in the mining sector as leading dewatering specialists, the IPR team today boasts the engineering capacity to build customised, diesel-driven pump solutions for the market. Managing director Lee Vine says it is not enough to offer off-the-shelf products, as dewatering is not a one-size-fits-all challenge.
Response time is of the essence in many dewatering and pumping applications, and so it was with one of Integrated Pump Rental’s customers when their pump station failed recently. Two bypass water lines were urgently needed to keep the water flowing at 200 m3/h flow per pump – so the right specifications were also crucial.

This giant’s ability to pump 500 litres per second means that it can empty an Olympic-sized swimming pool – containing 2,5 million litres – in just 1,3 hours.
